5 Ways to Use, Not Abuse Water

I was once crossing a signal when two girls came asking for some money or food. I stopped and offered them water instead and their eyes shined as if it were like an annual bonus was announced. I emptied 1.25 litres of water down their parched throats while two tears roll down my eyes, besides a few drops of sweat. I couldn't drink any water that day and then it was as normal as ever. Once Upon A Time Soon, our kids will hear it as a fable on how we used to water our gardens, fill up coolers, buy and fill water bottles by the dozen, wash scooters and cars, shave for hours, brush at length, bathe till we had the strength, swim till we were tired. But leave the taps and pipes open. During and after use. They will hold us in admiration? Well, much to their haw, they'd curse us more than anything. Believe me, kids in some parts of the world are listening to such fables already. Let's save Water, save Life, save Earth! Ab(use) At their age, they will get water as an incentive....

Flashion

Having born and brought up in an Army background, there was always a sense of discipline somewhere. Whether we made much sense of it or not. Trimmed hair was the norm, so it be. Knickers, Bush Shirt  as it was termed fondly, neatly tucked in, socks and shoes. The range was very limited then, so we had to make the best if it. Most clothing were loose, the population was much less, cloth must have been abundant, so perhaps the designers decided to use it without hesitation. Hence came into being, the  Bell-bottoms , the  Baggy , the Puffed Sleeves, the Midi Skirts and the like. There was enough room in those bell-bottoms to carry some small luggage like toiletries or umbrellas, if hung using clips inside. Then there were those big-collared shirts that my Dad describes as they kept flipping and hitting hard on your face while driving a scooter. Fondly called हाथी के कान! As I often have pointed out people wearing the all famous Patiala salwar, that one such salwa...

Recess Shun!

The closest thing to reality in private jobs is losing yours! Many have faced similar situations, either direct or friends bearing the brunt. We hear and sometimes, witness people losing their jobs. In any season, out of no reason! But before it happens we can make it, more often than not, good. Wondering how can we make it good? My statement holds correct only if we have done a few simple things. This is a tried and tested formula that I am about to share with you. But before that, a little insight When we join a company, we give ourselves to whatever is required to do there. We become very committed and associated, which is very good and most required for any new joiner, because any job demands high amount of inputs. We get trained on new things...communication, operation systems, presentations and what not. We have your dedicated computer, desk, drawers, coffee, soup and tea to drink, followed by snacking, munching and cafeteria, training manuals, one on ones, team meetings...

Planning for a journey, even if it means travelling within Delhi, can take a toll on your senses! One night prior, the car is all set with the required stuff. With a ll set to go, bags packed for the weekend and as it day already, we plan to rush out. The last checks reveal that the car key is missing. So the mad run around takes place, with me rushing to the car itself, just to see if I left it there! My machine! No. It isn't there. I get a call back from home confirming they have been found. I heave a sense of relief. Heading home, I tell myself of the traffic that we are about to get into. Anyhow, we picked up our bags and reached the car, almost losing out good 15 minutes. Ignition on and AC running, as we are about to start, I am reminded that one mobile phone is left back itself. Whew!! Should we let it be or collect it? We decide that we will take it along. So another 15 minutes gone! We finally start off our 46 kilometer journey, on a Saturday, in our c...
